Jake Wyllie: I've Watched George Kambosos Jr For Years, I Had Tickets To The Fight - But He's So Beatable
Jake Wyllie is ready and raring to change his life on Saturday after admitting he originally had tickets to watch his opponent George Kambosos Jr's fight with Daud Yordan.

It was late last weekend when Wyllie, a relatively unknown fighter outside of Australia, answered a call from his manager about filling in for Yordan, who had to be pulled from his clash with Kambosos Jr (21-3, 10 KOs) on medical grounds.

Now Wylie (16-1, 15 KOs), 24, will get the chance to upset the applecart when he faces the man he was supposed to watch from the nosebleed seats at Sydney's Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday night.

Wyllie told The Ring: "When I got the call on Sunday night from my manager Steve Deller I couldn't wipe the smile off my face and it was just a straight yes. Of course I'll take this fight.

"Mate, I've got the excitement. I've watched George for many years and I really believe I've got what it takes to beat him. So when that call came through I was just so happy and joyful. A win here changes my life.

"I'm fit, I'm ready. I was due to fight in three weeks as it was so I'm not jumping off the couch here. We had tickets booked to come to this fight and we booked them up in the grandstands. I'll be asking Eddie [Hearn], I want my $50 back."

Kambosos Jr gave snappy answers about Wyllie at Thursday's press conference after Eddie Hearn hinted he may have to hang his gloves up if he loses to his step-in opponent.

The 31-year-old said: “I ain’t losing to no Jake Wiley. Get it this way: You’ve gotta be fucked up if you think I'm going to lose to Jake Wiley, simple as that.”

"I respect the kid. I don't have any bad blood. I'm not gonna sit here and say anything bad about him. But when you deep dive on the guys he's knocked out, they're all plums.”

But Wyllie believes he's got the style to beat Kambosos Jr on short notice, however, noting that the former unified lightweight world champion is as beatable as they come.

Wyllie added: "It's very exciting for me to be in there with someone with the magnitude of George Kambosos Jr and what he has done for Australian boxing. I was there for the first [Devin] Haney fight and it was great.

"He's sold out at Marvel Arena and I've always thought he's so beatable though.

"He's so beatable and I think that he's been in there with, yes, very good, sharp, slick boxers but I don't think he's been in there with someone that's hard and tough and can punch hard. That's what I'm willing to bring to this fight."
