Jake Paul undergoes surgery for broken jaw after Anthony Joshua KO defeat
Jake Paul had to undergo surgery on a broken jaw in the wake of his KO defeat to Anthony Joshua on Friday night in Miami.

Joshua took longer than expected to beat Paul but ultimately did so in the sixth round of their Netflix main event with a crushing right hand which left his opponent in a heap on the canvas at Kaseya Center. The shot was also the one which presumably broke Paul's jaw.

Paul said in his post-fight interview that he felt his jaw was broken, before spitting blood out of his mouth. And the news was confirmed early on Saturday.

"Just got out of surgery," Paul wrote on social media. "Everything went smooth. Thanks for all the love. Lots of pain and stiffness. Gotta eat liquids for 7 days. 2 titanium plates on each side. Some teeth removed.

"Shoutout to the amazing team at Miami University hospital. Everyone was so gracious and caring."

Paul managed to evade Joshua for four rounds and even landed a couple of right hands before tiring in the fifth, where he was knocked down twice.

The 29-year-old went down twice more in the sixth before proceedings were waved off by referee Chris Young.

The win was Joshua's first since beating Francis Ngannou by second-round knockout in March 2024. After his win over Paul, he took the time to call out longtime rival Tyson Fury, who he is targeting for a mega-fight in 2026.

He said: “If Tyson Fury is as serious as he thinks he is and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers, and put on some gloves and come and fight one of the realest fighters that will take on any challenge, step in the ring with me next if you’re a real bad boy."
