There is a reality to Logan Paul and Jake Paul taking their talents to streaming service Max.
A fight between the two, however, just isn’t real.
The pair of influencers teased a potential sibling rivalry on March 27, through separate but identical posts on X and Instagram. Their claim was accompanied by a poster featuring the two face-to-face, complete with Max branding and reposted by the streaming platform.
“The moment you’ve waited a decade for,” Logan and Jake Paul both claimed.
No other details were provided, though it didn’t prevent far too many media members from buying into the notion that they were set to fight one another.
Instead, the posts were offered to drum up interest in a forthcoming reality series involving the Paul family.
The plan has already worked. The posts have drummed up more than 500,000 “likes” on Instagram, and another 41,000 on X where it also generated more than 9,200,000 views in less than 24 hours.
It is already good news for Max, the combined service which offers entertain content from HBO and Cinemax.
However, it took the air out of the collective balloon from those who hoped that it meant a pathway for HBO to get back into the boxing business.
HBO closed its doors to the sport in 2018, after more than 45 years in service. The network served as the runaway industry leader from the early 1990s onward.
The closest it will come to a return, it appears, will be its streaming service providing scripted programming for the Paul brothers’ latest entertaining adventure.
Jake Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) has yet to determine his next pro bout, other than having previously teased ‘news to come’ for his first fight of 2025.
The 28-year-old remains the most talked about figure in the sport. No greater proof was offered than in his Nov. 15 novelty fight with the 58-year-old version of former Ring/undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson (50-7, 44 KOs; 2 No-Contests).
Paul won via unanimous decision atop a show that marked boxing’s debut on Netflix. Their headlining act was watched by an estimated 65,000,000 concurrent global streams according to a Netflix media release, which made it the most-streamed sporting event in history.
Logan Paul, 29, has just one official pro boxing match, a Nov. 2019 narrow defeat to fellow influencer KSI which did big business on DAZN. He also joined forces with Hall of Fame all-time great Floyd Mayweather in a June 2021 exhibition atop a Showtime Pay-Per-View event which sold a reported 1,000,000 units.
Far greater success has been enjoyed by the older Paul brother as a wrestler on the WWE circuit. Fittingly, the Paul brothers’ reality series on Max is set to debut a little more than three weeks ahead of WWE’s WrestleMania 41 event at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
