Chris Eubank Jr has told Conor Benn that the presence of Billy Joe Saunders will make ‘zero difference’ to the result at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As revealed by The Ring this week, Saunders has claimed that Benn personally requested him to attend Eubank’s dressing room to supervise the hand-wrapping process ahead of their grudge clash on Saturday night.
Eubank Jr and Saunders have shared one of the longest-running feuds in this generation of British boxing stretching back to their fight in November 2014, which the Brighton man lost via split decision.
Saunders has not boxed since he was stopped by Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in 2021 but could still be present at Spurs this weekend as an official member of Team Benn.
When asked whether Saunders’ claim was true at Thursday night’s final press conference, Benn replied: “Don’t ruin all the surprises.”
But stoic Eubank Jr insists the presence of his old enemy in his dressing room within hours of the first bell will not affect his performance whatsoever.
“It’s an obvious attempt to unsettle me but you can’t unsettle me, I’m ice cold,” Eubank said.
“Would I be alright with it? Obviously I would prefer him not to be there but if he is, it’s not going to affect anything.
“It’s not like he’s going to be talking to me. He will be in his little corner watching, I’ll get my hands wrapped and then he’ll get out of the room. It makes zero difference.”
Eubank Jr and Benn will finally meet in a showdown years in the making in the main event of The Ring’s inaugural fight night Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The
event is available live on DAZN PPV.
