Holly Holm-Stephanie Han for WBA title added to Serrano-Cruz II card Jan. 3
Holly Holm aims to become a four-division champion when she challenges WBA lightweight titleholder Stephanie Han on January 3.

The bout will be contested at ten, three-minute rounds and take place as the co-main event supporting the rematch between Amanda Serrano and Erika Cruz at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on DAZN, Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions announced Wednesday.

The matchup will mark Holm’s second fight in a boxing ring since 2013. In June, the former UFC champion Holm spoiled the perfect record of Yolanda Ochoa with a shutout unanimous decision win.

Throughout her boxing career, Holm (34-2-3, 9 KOs), a 44-year-old from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a 2022 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee, held boxing titles at 140, 147, and 154 pounds.

But Holm moved on to MMA for greener pastures and compiled a record of 15 wins (8 KOs) against seven losses. Her career-defining moment in the UFC was highlighted by a knockout win against Ronda Rousey for the UFC's 135-pound crown in 2015.

“I feel great,” said Holm. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to fight for a fourth weight division title and add to my legacy on Saturday, January 3. I’m thankful for MVP and this opportunity and look forward to fighting in Puerto Rico, an island with a deep boxing culture.”

Han (11-0, 3 KOs), a 35-year-old from El Paso, Texas, who turned pro just four years ago, secured the WBA title with a first-round knockout of Hannah Terlep in February. Han defended the title in August against Paulina Angel with a unanimous decision win.

“From El Paso to the world stage, now I get to fight Holly Holm, in Puerto Rico next to the island’s greatest boxer in Amanda Serrano,” said Han. “Every sacrifice has led to this moment, and I’m grateful and excited for the opportunity. Equal opportunity at that, with three-minute rounds.”

Serrano-Cruz will also be contested at ten, three-minute rounds, a push MVP is spearheading to make women’s boxing rules equal to men.

Other fights on the undercard include:

  • Yankiel Rivera (7-0-1, 3 KOs) vs. Jonathan González (28-4-1, 14 KOs) in a 10-round flyweight fight.
  • Jan Paul Rivera (13-0, 7 KOs) vs. Alfredo Cruz (10-3-1, 5 KOs) in an eight-round featherweight bout.
  • Henry Lebron (20-0, 10 KOs) vs. Juan Tapia (14-4, 5 KOs) in an eight-round junior lightweight contest.
  • Chris Echevarria (9-1, 4 KOs) vs. Gabriel Bernardi (7-3, 5 KOs) in a six-round junior featherweight clash.
