HARLEM EUBANK has instructed his team to make an all-British showdown with Jack Catterall next.
The 31-year-old moved to 21-0 (9) via an eye-catching 10th round stoppage victory over Tyrone McKenna on March 7 and has already set his sights on the next target.
That victory over McKenna was only his second outing in 16 months and following a frustrating period of inactivity, the Brighton favourite is hoping for a busy 2025 with a summer fight now planned.
And, during an interview with The Ring, Eubank revealed that he wants his next outing to be against 30-2 (13) Catterall, who is hoping to bounce back from his February defeat to Arnold Barboza as quickly as possible.
He said: “We want the big fights and that’s what I was calling for. I want people at world level.
“The names that were put to me, Jack Catterall for example, I said to my team that he was considered to be at one point the undisputed champion of the world. A lot of people thought that. I believe that’s the level I belong at so I said to my team to make that fight next.
“If we can make that fight next, that’s what I’ve called for. That’s the level I want to perform at and I believe I’d make a statement in that fight. That’s what we want so we are trying to get it done.
“We are trying to catch him at his best, in his last fight he may have been a bit flat but when you’re beating world champions and fighting at the level that he has, you’re never too far from that. You may have dips and peaks but if you have a dip you’re only going to come back stronger.
“He’s at the peak of his career now has everyone else has stated, he should have been undisputed champion of the world and that’s the level we want.”
Eubank has been vocal in his desire to also face Conor Benn, who is scheduled to fight his cousin Chris Jr at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26. But now Harlem believes a victory over Catterall would propel him past Benn as he attempts to secure a shot at the world welterweight title before the end of the year.
He added: “I stated at the start of this year that I want to be world champion by the end of 2025 and these are the type of tests I need to make that dream a reality. We’re on a mission to make that happen this year.
“By the end of the year we will surpass the position Benn is in. It has always been a fight I’ve spoken about and the fights we are aiming to make this year mean we are going to move past him and onto world level. The fight will always be there.
“He hasn’t fought at any type of level that Catterall has been at so we are trying to make real fights happen this year, not fantasy match-ups, we want people who have proven it at world level. Catterall is one of them.”
