Harlem Eubank Fight Is 'Do Or Die' For Jack Catterall, Claims Promoter
Jack Catterall finds himself in a "do or die" situation in his fight with Harlem Eubank on July 5 in Manchester, according to the latter's promoter Kalle Sauerland.

Catterall (30-2, 13 KOs) returns to the AO Arena on Saturday night for the first time since a unanimous decision win over Darragh Foley in May 2023. This time he's the headline act and comes up against the famed Eubank name.

Harlem, Chris Eubank Jr's cousin, holds an undefeated record of 21-0 with 9 KOs, and though he's the same age as Catterall at 31, he's not yet fought at world level.

His style in the ring is an exciting one, however, and it's attracted millions of viewers to terrestrial TV on Channel 5 over the past several years while fighting under Sauerland's Wasserman banner.

Catterall was last in action on February 15, losing an agonising split decision to Arnold Barboza Jr. The Chorley man still believes he can win world honours one day, but Sauerland says the pressure on him to deliver in front of his hometown fans against a largely unknown entity, skill-wise, is big.

Sauerland told The Ring: "It's a big step up [for Harlem], that's what champions, real champions, need to do. Harlem's a fantastic character and fighter, the way he conducts himself is very humble. The way he's progressed taking little steps up ... but this is the moment.

"It's not the be-all and end-all, I won't sell it as that, but it is that moment where we find out. He's got the pressure of the name. But Catterall, a great fighter, gentleman and an advert for the sport, I think the pressure is on him, when it comes to where he's been. He almost got there, this is sort of do or die for him.

"For Eubank it's about finding out how many gears he has got to go through. He's never been pushed like he's going to be pushed. Speed is on our side, I think we know pretty much everything there is to know about Catterall."

Eubank's biggest wins have come against the likes of Tyrone McKenna, who he dropped three times and beat by 10th-round TKO in March, and Nurali Erdogan.

Though the in-ring experience isn't on his side, Sauerland also believes that can play into his man's hands on Saturday evening.

"We've been [Catterall] in some big fights, we've seen all the versions of him. Look at the Josh Taylor fights, the Barboza fight told us a lot about strengths and weaknesses," he added.

"They won't have the luxury of that with Harlem Eubank but we all know this is a level up. But it's a level we believe is mountable.

"Harlem has a lot in his arsenal that we haven't seen yet because he hasn't been at this level yet. You go up the levels and that's where your true greatness or flaws are."

Catterall vs. Eubank will be streamed live on DAZN along with an undercard which features the returns of Joe Cordina and Skye Nicolson.
