Gervonta Davis was feeling frisky on Saturday.
Tank took to social media for an extended Instagram Live session to share his desire to face Ryan Garcia in a highly lucrative sequel, among other topics.
“I’ll tax that a** again,” said Davis. “Tell them boys to give me $150m’s. I’m coming. You know what I mean? Tell them to send that bag and I’m coming … Hopefully I'll fight Ryan again – if they are not on some h** s***.”
The WBA lightweight champion Davis – ranked No. 1 at 135 pounds by The Ring and No. 8 on The Ring's pound-for-pound list – is next scheduled to face Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1 in Brooklyn, New York.
During the buildup to the bout, Davis, a 30-year-old knockout artist from Baltimore, has declared that retirement is imminent and he’ll be calling it quits after 2025.
A Garcia rematch would surely be a complicated negotiation given Davis is hesitant to fight above 135 pounds and Garcia's return is targeted around 147 pounds.
Their blockbuster bout in April 2023 was contested at 136 pounds with a 10-pound rehydration clause, a contracted stipulation which Garcia later said drained him from operating at the peak of his powers.
Davis and Garcia did do big business together however, generating nearly 1.2 million pay-per-view buys and $22.8 million in ticket revenue for their fight, which took place at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena. Both fighters also made over $30 million in purses, Garcia said shortly following the fight.
Davis is a -1400 betting favorite against Roach per DraftKings and clarified rumors that he’s no longer working with career-long coach and father figure Calvin Ford.
“I got Calvin tatted on me – Calvin ain't going anywhere,” he said. “That s** is for life. Loyalty over everything.”
