George Liddard looked more than ready for his latest step up in competition as he weighed in just under the 160-pound limit ahead of his bout with Derrick Osaze.
Liddard (10-0, 6 KOs), who last fought in December, winning by TKO in the first round against Omar Nguale Ilunga, weighed in at 159.4 pounds.
Osaze (13-2, 3 KOs) came in a smidge heavier at 159.7 pounds, but hasn't been in the ring since a brutal second-round knockout defeat to current British and European titleholder Denzel Bentley (21-3-1, 17 KOs) last August.
The pair will throw down in a DAZN main event at the Indigo at the O2 in London, England on Friday, January 31 from 5pm GMT/12pm ET. The show also features Junaid Bostan (10-0, 8 KOs) and Bilal Fawaz (9-1, 3 KOs), who will clash in the co-main event.
Liddard said: "I never shy away from a test. Like you say, Derrick is a good test - I'm ready to pass it. That is what it is. If you look at my record; I've never shied away from anyone. I'll fight any man. I'm a fighting man. That's what I do. My last six or five fights have all been a step up after step up.
"I think they've all come to flip the script. Someone is yet to do that. Good luck to him. I hope he gives it his all on Friday night and I'm sure he will."
Bostan weighed in at 153.6 pounds while Fawaz came in at 152.9 for their English Junior Middleweight title bout.
Both men promised to walk away from South East London with the victory in an entertaining back-and-forth at Wednesday's press conference.
Bostan said: “You don’t have a Scooby Doo on what you’re doing. One minute you’re on the front foot, one minute you’re on the back foot.
"When I’m asked, ‘how are you going to beat Bilal?’, the truthful answer is I’ll see what’s in front of me because I haven’t got a f-----g clue, and neither has he! You’re here to make the numbers up. Let’s just be real, yeah. You’re going to get dealt with."
Fawaz retorted: “This is a momentous moment. It is a moment that will change the trajectory of my career. I’ve come so far in such a short space of time.
"I think he’s a pretty boy. I’ll call him pretty boy. He’s a cheeky guy. Junaid is a good fighter, but the thing is, you don’t command power. There’s no power with it. Look at the people I’ve fought. He’s fought riff raff and vagabonds."
