Undisputed world champion, Gabriela Fundora (15-0, 7 KOs) of Coachella Valley, will defend her Ring, WBA, WBO, WBC, and IBF world championship belts against No. 1 IBF-ranked contender Marilyn "La Mexicana" Badillo (19-0-1, 3 KOs) of Cuautitlán, Mexico.
“My last fight, I made history as the youngest undisputed champion in the world,” said Fundora. “I am excited to make history again, this time defending my undisputed status against the very hungry Badillo. This is my first main event, and I can’t wait to show the world all the hard work Team Fundora puts in to be the best.”
The 10-round main event, co-promoted with Sampson Boxing, marks Fundora’s first headlining appearance as she leads the charge in a new era of women’s boxing. This bout is set for Saturday, April 19, at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside and will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN.
“I worked hard to earn my spot to challenge for this undisputed championship,” said Badillo. “I am excited to make my U.S. debut and make waves in women’s boxing.”
As previously reported by The Ring, undefeated and No. 2-ranked Charles “Bad News” Conwell (21-0, 16 KOs), of Cleveland, is set to clash with No. 4-ranked and former world champion Jorge “Chino” Garcia Perez (32-4, 26 KOs), of Sinaloa, Mexico, in a high-stakes, 12-round, super welterweight battle. The bout is presented in association with Zanfer Boxing.
“I’m so excited to get in the ring with someone ranked in the top 10,” said Conwell. “It’s time to show the world just how good I am."
