Gabriela Fundora Aims To Capture More Gold in Other Divisions
WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine world champion Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (16-0, 8 KOs), of Coachella Valley, dazzled fans at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside with a dominant stoppage of IBF mandatory and world title contender Marilyn Badillo (19-1-1, 3 KOs), of Cuautitlán, Mexico.

In the seventh round, Fundora dropped Badillo for the first time in her career with a sharp jab to the face; the referee began a 10-count, and Badillo indicated she could no longer continue, sealing Fundora’s statement victory.

The 10-round main event was broadcast live worldwide on DAZN, marked Fundora’s first headlining appearance as she leads a new era in women’s boxing.

"I knew the stoppage was going to come—it was just about how I wanted to set it up," said Fundora.

"We train really hard, and I'm more mature now; with age comes maturity. In the first round, I was able to adjust to her style and get used to her ducking her head. In the final round, I was like a train—I stayed on her and stayed consistent.

"I wasn't surprised that she didn’t want any more after the knockdown. This is why I trained so hard. I'm going to go back to the team, and we’ll see what’s next—whether I go down or up in weight—but I’m ready to collect more belts in other divisions!"
