Four consecutive losses pushed Gabriel Rosado out the door in 2023. But like some fighters, he just couldn’t stay away from the sport he loves.

Rosado (27-17-1, 15 KOs) has been in the sort of fights that made him a fan favorite, but they've also had an effect on his body. After recharging and refocusing, the former title challenger decided now was the right time to return.

The 39-year-old picked up a victory last weekend against Crispulo Javier Andino at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California, stopping him in the first round.

Now that he’s back in the winner's circle, Rosado knows exactly who he wants next.

“I want [Edgar] Berlanga,” Rosado said during the post-fight interview.

Luckily for him, Berlanga (23-2, 18 KOs) might be free and in need of an opponent.

It’s been a rough 2025 for the super middleweight contender. He was berated repeatedly for his choice of opponent March 15. With Jonathan Gonzalez Ortiz serving a 10-year prison sentence at one point, many believed he was unfit to face Berlanga. Those thoughts were proven true when he was stopped in the first round at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida.

Immediately after, Berlanga stepped up for Hamzah Sheeraz. Although he talked a big game, he was violently beaten in Flushing, New York, on July 12, losing via fifth-round stoppage.

Eventually, Berlanga will make his return. Before beginning that search, Rosado hopes that he’s selected. Both are proud Puerto Ricans, and Rosado believes that it makes sense for them to head to their native island to fight.

“He got a piece of humble pie, so he gotta come back strong,” Rosado said. “I came back off a two-year layoff, we’re Puerto Rican, let’s do it in Puerto Rico.”
