He hasn’t won them all but Erickson Lubin knows he’s an elite fighter.

The 29-year-old doesn’t bloviate about it. If you don’t believe him, then he urges you to take a look at his resume. He holds a win over a former unified champion in Jeison Rosario. He also beat a hot up-and-comer in Jesus Ramos Jr. His loss to Sebastian Fundora was competitive but his violent shortcoming via first-round KO to Jermell Charlo remains a huge blemish.

Things didn’t always go his way but come May 10th, he’s confident that he’ll toy with Ardreal Holmes Jr.

“I’m a do you dirty,” said Lubin on a virtual press conference.

Apparently, Lubin (26-2, 18 KOs) has invested in a standup comedy routine. Whenever he hurled bombastic threats in Holmes’ direction, the fringe contender laughed uncontrollably.

Confidence is something that Holmes has plenty of. He’s undefeated, hasn’t exactly come close to losing, and has been dying for an opportunity on the big stage.

Even if he tried, the indelible smile etched on his face is too good to hide. But it’s also getting on Lubin’s nerves. In just a few more weeks, he wonders if Holmes will still be so giddy.

“You can laugh right now and think it’s all fun and giggles right now but come May 10th, you gonna be shaking out your boots.”

Winning will always be enough for the 29-year-old but the IBF gave him something to look forward to. Officially, Lubin vs. Holmes has been sanctioned as an IBF final eliminator. Meaning, the winner will have a dinner date with full titlist, Bakhram Murtazaliev.

Although he’s grateful, Lubin is somewhat acrimonious. He believes beating Jesus Ramos back in 2023 should have pushed him into the title picture. But instead, it pushed him out of the limelight.

It’ll be close to two years when he officially makes his return. The way he sees it, his layoff was unwarranted, unwanted, and uncalled for. Being sequestered on the sidelines pisses Lubin off. Unfortunately for Holmes, he plans on taking out all of his frustrations on him come fight night.
