Erickson Lubin finally gets a home game for his next fight.
The Ring has confirmed that Lubin’s IBF-ordered junior middleweight title eliminator against Ardreal Holmes Jr. will head to the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida. Their scheduled 12-round bout will stream live on ProBox TV, whose founder Garry Jonas won the promotional rights to the fight in a Jan. 28 purse bid hearing.
The winner will become the mandatory challenger for Bakhram Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 KOs), The Ring’s No. 3 junior middleweight and current IBF titleholder.
Lubin (26-2, 18 KOs) hails from nearby Orlando and trains out of Kevin Cunningham’s facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. The former title challenger’s lone career fight in his home region came in Sept. 2015, when he appeared on a Bounce TV card from Winter Park, Florida.
The clash with Holmes (17-0, 6 KOs) will mark Lubin’s first fight of any kind since a Sept. 2023 unanimous decision win over then-unbeaten Jesus Ramos Jr. at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ramos (22-1, 18 KOs) has since rebounded with two wins and will fight again on March 22, and is The Ring’s No. 9 contender.
Lubin was previously in The Ring’s top five but dropped last fall due to inactivity. An injury left him unable to land a desired title eliminator against former WBO 154-pound titlist Tim Tszyu (24-2, 17 KOs), The Ring’s No. 7 contender.
The IBF route became available again once the sanctioning body needed to fulfill its mandatory slot.
Holmes—a 6’2” southpaw from Flint, Michigan—has fought in his home state for each of his last four contests.
The 30-year-old contender won all three fights in his 2024 campaign. The last two went the ten-round distance in unanimous decisions over Hugo Noriega and Edwin Humaine Junior.
Holmes is promoted by Salita Promotions, founded by former 140-pound contender Dmitry Salita.
Lubin primarily fights under the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) banner. His newfound connection to ProBox, however, traces back to his career long relationships with Jonas who signed Lubin out of the amateurs prior to his Nov. 2013 pro debut.
The two career defeats suffered by Lubin both came at the top level. He has won eight of his past nine starts since his lone career title fight. That moment ended in a stunning first-round knockout loss to then-unbeaten Jermell Charlo, who held the WBC 154-pound title at the time of their Oct. 2017 meeting at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The lone defeat over that seven-plus year period was an April 2022 ninth-round stoppage at the hands of then=undefeated Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) for the interim WBC 154-pound title. Fundora has since emerged as The Ring’s No. 4 junior middleweight and the current WBC/WBO titleholder.
