Eduardo Hernandez wants his 2026 to be just as successful as his previous two years.
The Ring’s No. 6 junior lightweight is set to return January 17 in his hometown of Mexico City at Cuauhtémoc Sports Complex. His opponent has yet to be determined.
Hernandez (37-2, 32 KOs) is on a three-fight win streak. Despite beating Daniel Lugo, Thomas Mattice and Rene Tellez Giron, he's still kicking himself over one of his shortcomings.
In 2023, he was just three minutes away from winning a world title. His relentless pressure and volume punching gave O’Shaquie Foster issues. On two of the three judges' scorecards, Hernandez was well ahead and simply needed to remain upright to walk away with the WBC crown.
However, Foster (24-3, 12 KOs) dropped him in the final round and stopped him before he could fully recover. Since then, Hernandez has vowed to get back in the title picture, which could happen should he win in January.
Also announced to be fighting on the card will be Gabriel Jimenez vs. Daniel Sanchez and Raymundo Rojas vs. Juan Salvador Hernandez.
