Edgar Berlanga, Hamzah Sheeraz Same Weight For ‘Ring III’ PPV Main Event Saturday Night
NEW YORK – Hamzah Sheeraz looked less physically depleted when he officially weighed in Friday morning than for any of his previous professional fights.

With eight extra pounds with which to work since his last fight, the 6-foot-4 Sheeraz easily made the super middleweight limit for his 168-pound debut against Edgar Berlanga on Saturday night at Louis Armstrong Stadium in nearby Queens. Sheeraz stepped on the New York State Athletic Commission’s scale at 167.6 pounds, the same weight as Berlanga, for the main event of “Ring III,” a DAZN Pay-Per-View event.

England’s Sheeraz realized after his last fight, a 12-round split draw with WBC middleweight champ Carlos Adames on February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that he needed to move up from the middleweight maximum of 160 pounds if he is to reach his full potential.

Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 KOs) is a slight favorite to beat Brooklyn’s Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs), according to DraftKings.

DAZN’s coverage is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET in the United States ($59.99) and 10 p.m. BST in the United Kingdom (£24.99).
