Eddie Hearn: 97-93 Card For Tiara Brown Is Pretty Disgusting, Rematch Could Be Next
Eddie Hearn has called one of the scorecards which went in favour of Tiara Brown in her victory over Skye Nicolson 'pretty disgusting'.

Nicolson (12-1, 1 KOs), previously undefeated, was stunned by the American by split decision on the undercard of George Kambosos-Jake Wyllie in Sydney, Australia at the weekend, dropping her WBC featherweight title in the process.

The fight was a scrappy one, but Brown (19-0, 11 KOs) offered more front-foot pressure, she was able to negate Nicolson's jab for the majority of the fight and had success on the inside.

Nicolson said in the aftermath that she didn't feel herself in the ring and that a rematch was in her thinking.

Hearn admitted the fight was a close one which 'could've gone either way', but lamented one of the scorecards, which read 97-93 in favour of Brown.

The Matchroom chief mistakenly called out Australian judge Phil Austin over the card, as it was actually American Robert Bridges who had the fight that wide for Brown.

Austin did score the fight in favour of Brown too, however, with a card of 96-94, while Japan's Nobuto Ikehara scored it 96-94 to Nicolson.

Hearn told The Ring's Louis Hart: "Could've gone either way to be honest, Skye didn't perform at her best - I don't know the reason - but also Tiara Brown boxed well, you can't just say I wasn't at my best tonight, she forced the pressure and did what others weren't able to do, whether Skye wasn't at her best or the game plan was too good.

"I thought Skye won rounds 9-10 and that was probably gonna nick her the fight, to be honest, looking at the Australian judge's scorecard...I thought it was pretty disgusting.

"He gave Tiara the last five rounds, you have to give her [Skye] nine and I think ten but all the scorecards were all over the place. When I got in the ring, it was one of them. You couldn't give one of them four rounds in a worse case scenario."

"It was Tiara's night, been great all week, brought great energy and realised a dream tonight, back to the drawing board for Skye, she'll learn a lot from tonight as she's never been in a fight like that before, she showed grit as well, didn't get in her rhythm or flow because Tiara boxed well as well, she'll be back and I believe she'll be a world champion again but tonight belongs to Tiara Brown.

Hearn sounded keen on a rematch and suggested the WBC may order one. But he also warned that if Nicolson is to go straight back into it, she needs to be completely right in the ring.

He added: "For sure [we want the rematch], the WBC will make it anyway, but we've got to get it right, you can't just jump back into a rematch and get beat again or perform like that again, you've got to perform much better, whether that's to go and rebuild...have a fight or two, then go into the rematch maybe, but of course Skye's reaction will be to run it back immediately.

"She can box much better than that, if she boxed a little better, she would've won, so a lot to take but tonight is Tiara Brown's night, she's worked her whole life for this moment, got to give her the credit as she went in there and won, I know Skye will be back stronger."
