Domestic Violence Charges Against Jamel Herring Officially Dropped
Jamel Herring has officially been cleared of any wrongdoing.

In early January, Herring was taken into custody for alleged domestic violence and assault, a misdemeanor charge.

According to reports, Herring’s wife, Jennifer Herring, went to authorities stating that her husband arrived home "extremely" intoxicated. She went on to state that he violently and viciously attacked her. Not only did he allegedly punch her, but he also reportedly pulled her hair, choked her, and threw her to the ground. His bail for the incident totaled over $100,000. In addition to the claimed physical abuse, Mrs. Herring said that she feared for her life. She also provided pictures of her bruises.

Now, after going through the legal process, Jamel's charges have been dropped.

As first reported by TMZ Sports, Herring’s legal fight to prove his innocence has prevailed. Clyde Bennett, Herring’s attorney, released a succinct statement. He would go on to say that the evidence provided was “insufficient to prove that he committed any crime against his wife.” He also declared that the “investigation demonstrated her claim against Mr. Herring was false.”

At the moment, it’s unclear if Herring will provide a public statement but Bennett did deliver a bit more clarity. He would go on to say that his client would like to put everything behind him and move on.

Now, the former 2012 Olympian will attempt to get his boxing career back on track. Before being jailed, Herring, a former world champion at 130 pounds, was scheduled to return to the ring on January 21. That, of course, was nixed.

Although he briefly retired following his upset loss to Jamaine Ortiz in 2022, Herring’s time on the shelf was transient. Since returning, the results have been up and down. He scored an easy first-round knockout win over Nicholas Molina in November of 2023 before losing a split decision to Jackson Jon England immediately after.
