Derek Chisora has revealed that the 50th fight of his career will take place Dec. 13 on the Queensberry Promotions card at Co-op Live, Arena in Manchester.
Chisora is currently mandatory challenger for the IBF heavyweight title held by undisputed champion
Oleksandr Usyk, who will not box again this year due to a back injury.
But now it seems that 41-year-old Chisora has no intention of waiting around for a rematch with the Ukrainian great, who he lost on points to in October 2020. Instead, he took to Instagram to announce that he will bring up his half century of professional fights in Manchester.
Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) most recently boxed in February when he dropped Otto Wallin twice en route to a
convincing points victory over Otto Wallin. That was Chisora’s 49th fight and, as he insisted at the time, his last one in the UK.
But things have changed since then and not only will he box again in the UK but also in the very same arena where he beat Wallin six months ago.
The show will be headlined by
Moses Itauma, but The Ring understands there are currently no plans to match the pair.
Itauma’s last outing was the
119-second demolition job on Dillian Whyte at ANB Arena, Riyadh on August 16. That victory moved up to No. 10 in The Ring’s heavyweight rankings. He is currently No. 1 with both the WBA and WBO while the WBC have him at No. 4. Itauma is currently No. 5 with the IBF, the sanctioning body which currently ranks Chisora highest.
“Let me tell you something,” Chisora said during an interview on Instagram. “We are going back to Manchester, 13 December, Road to 50.
“So book your hotels, book your restaurants, me and Queensberry are coming to shut it down in Manchester.”
As reported by
The Ring earlier this month, Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren revealed that
Chisora could be forced to fight a final eliminator for the IBF title or risk losing his ranking. The sanctioning body ordered Efe Ajagba to face Frank Sanchez to fight each other but Ajagba withdrew from the fight due to injury.
Chisora added: “Opponent will be announced soon. I had one but the big boss took him and you can’t really argue when the big boss says what he wants so it happened.”
