David Benavidez invites war vs. Yarde in quest to ‘become greatest boxer of all time’
David Benavidez has emerged as one of the sport’s most exhilarating stars.

He’ll get to further prove his case on November 22, when he defends his WBC light heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde in the headline fight of "The Ring IV: Night of the Champions" card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The show will be streamed on DAZN pay-per-view in the United States ($59.99) and UK (£24.99).

Although Yarde (27-3, 24 KOs) has never captured a major title, he’s given Arthur Beterbiev and Sergey Kovalev all they could handle in late-round stoppage losses. Yarde, The Ring’s No. 4-rated contender at 175 pounds, is also 2-1 in tough fights against Lyndon Arthur.

Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) expects another stiff test on fight night.

“I definitely expect a big action fight,” Benavidez said on "Inside the Ring." “Anthony Yarde has been in there with the best of them. He's felt hard shots against two of the best Russian fighters of all time. I'm expecting him to come 100 percent ready for this fight. I'm not scared of anything. I accept and invite war.”

Over the last three years, while a fight against Canelo Alvarez evaded him, Benavidez – the cover star for the October issue of The Ring – has taken on all comers and beaten former world champions David Lemieux, Caleb Plant, and Demetrius Andrade during his super middleweight campaign.

During his 175-pound run, Benavidez has beaten Oleksandr Gvozdyk and, in February, David Morrell. In the Morrell fight, Benavidez suffered a flash knockdown but bounced right back up to prove he’s ready to fight fire with fire in pursuit of his path to becoming one of the greats of his generation.

“I have had one dream since I was 3 years old, and that's to become the greatest boxer of all time. And that's exactly what we are going to accomplish,” said Benavidez. “We're almost there, and we are going to keep going until there is no one left to say anything bad about me.

“I'm only 28 years old. I know my time is coming. With hard work, and me staying motivated, I know that I can be the best in the world. I think everybody is starting to see that I am fearless and relentless and that I will fight anybody to get my respect in the ring.

“You're looking at the guy who's chasing all of them. Those guys are monsters, but this is El Monstro's world. I know how to thrive in this environment. We have a lot of great fights on the table. I'm going to take every single one of them and not run away from anything. This is my destiny to go through these hard fights and win world titles.

"This is what boxing is all about. I am sick of seeing these fighters getting the easiest fights for the biggest paychecks. It's not about money. It's about giving the fans the fight they deserve.”
