Exclusive: BBBofC To Meet, Make Decision On Adeleye-Tshikeva Furore On Wednesday
The British Boxing Board of Control will meet on Wednesday to discuss the controversial ending to David Adeleye’s victory over Jeamie Tshikeva in Manchester.

The pair met for the British heavyweight title on the undercard of Joe Joyce’s defeat to Filip Hrgovic at the Co-op Live Arena with Adeleye officially recording a stoppage win after 0:55 of round number six.

But Tshikeva and his team were incensed by the nature of the stoppage as Adeleye initial knockdown, from a devastating left hook, appeared to be landed illegally after Ron Kearney had not only called ‘break’ twice but also moved one of TKV’s hands during the clinch.

Tshikeva managed to beat Kearney’s count but was stopped moments later from Adeleye’s next barrage of punches.

In an interview with The Ring immediately after the fight, Tshikeva’s promoter Ben Shalom said: “What I’ve just witnessed was one of the most disgraceful things I’ve seen in my career… It has to be overturned.”

And now Board secretary Robert Smith has confirmed to the Ring that the issue will be decided upon at their meeting on Wednesday, although at the time of writing he was yet to receive any official complaint from Tshikeva or Boxxer.

Smith said Monday morning: “We haven’t received any appeal or anything else as of yet but I fully expect to. I’m just gathering all the information myself from the referee involved and from the officials who were there. The chairman was there at the venue so I will be speaking to him later on.

“We actually have a board meeting on Wednesday where everything will be put to the Board in full and then a decision will be made on how we move forward on it. I would expect the decision to be made at that meeting.”

Adeleye claimed the British title recently vacated by Fabio Wardley as a result of the victory, which moved him to 14-1 (13). Tshikeva, meanwhile, was left on 8-2 (5), with both of those defeats coming inside the distance.
