Danny Garcia Dismantles Daniel Gonzalez, Stops Him With 4th-Round KO
BROOKLYN, New York -- Danny Garcia (38-4, 22 KOs) refused to let a damaging ninth-round middleweight title loss to Erislandy Lara be the final image of his career.

In what was tabbed his 'Farewell to Brooklyn,' the 37-year-old made it look easy against Daniel Gonzalez (22-5-1, 7 KOs) in the main event slot from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on his tenth appearance, an arena where he went 8-2, violently stopping his man in the fourth.

The Philadelphia star returned to 154 pounds to take on Gonzalez and didn’t waste a single moment getting comfortable. Once the opening bell rang, Garcia took the center of the ring and patiently watched his man. Gonzalez opted to bounce around on the outside, looking for openings. Seldom however, did Garcia give him any.

In the blink of an eye, Garcia landed an eye-catching left, a shot he built his career on, wobbling his man. From there he went all-in, looking for the knockout. Ultimately though, that wouldn’t arrive until later.

Over the next two rounds, Gonzalez played it safe. He remained on the outside and did his best to avoid Garcia's overhand bombs. To a certain extent, he did until round four.

During the period, the Philadelphia star found the exact kill shot he was looking for, a counter left hook from hell. Gonzalez didn't see it coming and crumbled to the ground as soon as it landed, doing his best to beat the count but referee Harvey Dock had seen enough from his subsequent reaction, wisely waving it off 45 seconds into the frame.

When asked post-fight whether this was his final fight, Garcia initially doubled down before saying he was '85% retired', and that the financials would have to make sense if he was going to justify the risk-vs-reward of appearing again, likely in a much higher-profile fight.

WBO junior middleweight champion Xander Zayas and WBC interim beltholder Vergil Ortiz were just two examples given, though he maintained his wait-and-see stance.
