Saturday night's European light-heavyweight title clash between Daniel Blenda Dos Santos and Bradley Rea was called off just hours before the main event.
The fight, which was set to headline a GBM Sports show on DAZN at York Hall in London, was originally between Shakan Pitters and Dos Santos, but the former pulled out earlier this week with an injury.
But Dos Santos (22-1, 10 KOs) fell ill hours before the first bell and was advised not to fight by doctors, leaving Rea without an opponent.
Pitters and Dos Santos were first scheduled to fight back in February but the latter failed a a pre-fight brain scan, so Pitters fought a replacement opponent in the co-main event of a card which was headlined by Shakiel Thompson instead.
The cancellation spells more bad luck for Rea (20-1, 10 KOs) too, as the Mancunian also had his fight on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev-Dmitry Bivol 2 pulled after his opponent Constantino Nanga suffered an injury.
Saturday night's card in Bethnal Green went ahead and was headlined by a junior-welterweight clash between Ben Crocker and Tiernan Bradley, which ended in a controversial draw.
Earlier on the bill, Emma Dolan and Lauren Parker clashed for the former’s British and Commonwealth junior-bantamweight titles, and it was Dolan who came out on top with a points victory.
Hughie Fury returned to action and scored a fifth-round stoppage win over Dan Garber, potentially setting up a summer showdown with Dillian Whyte in the process.
There were also wins for Gradus Kraus, Louie O’Doherty and Kieran Molloy on the undercard.
