Dalton Smith is back in action next month as he takes on Canadian Mathieu Germain in a bid to keep himself busy with a world title shot around the corner.
European champion Smith (17-0, 13 KOs), who destroyed Walid Ouizza in a round in his last outing back in January, is the mandatory challenger for WBC junior-welterweight champion Alberto Puello (24-0, 10 KOs), so he'll want to avoid any slip-ups.
The fight will headline a show set to stream worldwide on DAZN and will take place at Sheffield's Canon Medical Arena on April 19.
The undercard will feature a few notable names, including Matchroom's newest signing Josh Padley (15-1, 4 KOs), who recently stepped up and lost to Shakur Stevenson in a bid to win WBC 135-pound gold on the Artur Beterbiev-Dmiitry Bivol card last month.
Padley has since quit his day job as an electrician and is now fully-focussed on building his career as a full-time boxer.
Former IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington (34-4-1, 8 KOs) will also fight on the undercard, as will Ishmael Davis, who takes on Ryan Kelly (19-5-1, 8 KOs) in an eliminator for the British junior-middleweight title.
"It’s an honour to be headlining again in my home city, and this time at a new venue in the Canon Medical Arena," said Smith.
"I’m sure it’ll be a lively atmosphere in there with my fans in full voice!
"I had an excellent start to the year winning the European Title in spectacular fashion and now that I’m Mandatory Challenger for the WBC Title I’m looking to keep up my activity.
"Mathieu Germain will be coming to win but I’ll be getting the job done - he’s in the way of some huge nights for me. I’m not looking ahead, but there will be one name I’ll be calling out after dealing with Germain. Alberto Puello, where you at?!"
Germain (26-2-1, 11 KOs) added: "I am a boxer who thrives on challenges. Dalton is one of them. I’ve been working hard my whole life for this moment!"
