Plant-Resendiz Undercard Results: Yoenli Hernandez Brutally Beats Down Kyrone Davis, Goes 10-Round Distance
LAS VEGAS — WBA interim super middleweight champion Caleb Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) takes on Armando Resendiz (15-2, 11 KOs) at the Mandalay Bay to headline a PBC on Prime Video card.

In the co-main event, former two-division champion Jermall Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs) returns to make his super middleweight debut against Thomas LaManna (39-5-1, 18 KOs).

If Plant and Charlo are victorious, the plan is for them to fight later this year. Follow the fight-by-fight undercard results below:

Hernandez cruises to decision win

Power-punching middleweight contender Yoenli Hernandez continued to prove his case that the new wave of Cubans should not be considered timid fighters.

Hernandez (8-0, 7 KOs) showed off his imposing and swarming style in a dominant beatdown of Kyrone Davis, dropping the American in the second round en route to cruising to a comfortable 10-round unanimous decision win.

Each of the judges scored the contest 100-89 in favor of the surging Hernandez, who heard the final bell for the first time in his three-year career.

Davis (19-4-1, 6 KOs) was coming off a career-best decision victory in June against then-unbeaten contender Elijah Garcia, but it was evident from the onset that Davis wouldn’t be playing prospect buster on the night.

Hernandez got off to a hot start and dropped Davis in the second round with a two-punch combination.

By the third round, Hernandez was pushing Davis off balance with a thudding jab and unloading with a high volume of power shots, which was on rinse-and-repeat mode from there on out.

Hernandez blistered and bludgeoned the brave Davis with a brutal beating, outlanding him 217 to 40. Davis did not land more than eight punches in any round, according to CompuBox.

Hernandez was not only head-hunting, however. He connected with 48 body shots as well.

In the final round, Hernandez stomped his foot down and waved Davis in, asking to engage while looking for the stoppage. Davis obliged and ate an unhealthy diet of leather as part of the exercise as blood flew out of his mouth.

Lucero stops Valenzuela in two

Isaac Lucero scored a second-round technical knockout victory against Luis Valenzuela in a battle between unbeaten junior middleweight contenders.

The ending sequence started when Lucero connected with a crushing right hand with 40 seconds left in the second to violently floor Valenzuela.

Valenzuela got back up only to absorb a barrage of more punches along the ropes before the fight was waved off at the 2:57 mark.

Lucero (17-0, 13 KOs) unleashed his fast hands right from the opening and floored Valenzuela (23-1, 20 KOs) in the first round, but the punches were ruled to be behind the head.

The evidence from the next round proved to be more definitive for the 26-year-old, Sampson Lewkowicz-promoted Mexican.

Moton mastery resumes over eight

The Magic 8 Ball says 18-year-old “generational talent” and Floyd Mayweather Jr. protégé Curmel Moton is going to be a future multi-weight world champion and star.

In his eighth career fight, the lightweight phenom Moton (8-0, 6 KOs) dominated Renny Viamonte (4-2-1, 2 KOs) but heard the final bell for just the second time in his pro career, scoring an eight round unanimous decision win via scores of 80-72 across the board.

Moton demonstrated once again why he has a high ceiling by showcasing a lightning fast jab and blistering combinations. The durable Viamonte absorbed the punches well, however, was coming forward before Moton beat the fight out of him over the last four rounds. Moton also showed tighter defense this time out after eating some heavy shots in previous fights.

Martin wins well vs. Portillo

Carl Martin (26-0, 20 KOs) dropped Francisco Pedroza Portillo (19-13-2, 11 KOs) in the sixth round and scored an eight-round unanimous decision win. The Filipino southpaw junior featherweight was awarded scores of 79-72, 78-73, 78-73.

Cardona edges beyond Williams

Justin Cardona (10-1, 5 KOs) scored a split decision victory against Elijah Williams (10-2, 4 KOs) in their six-round junior welterweight clash via scores of 79-72 and 77-74, while a third judge had it 76-75 for Williams. Cardona knocked down Williams in the sixth round.

Easter eases past Martinez

John Easter (9-0, 7 KOs) scored a unanimous decision win against Andres Martinez (5-4, 3 KOs) via scores of 59-53 across the board in their six-round junior middleweight matchup. Martinez was docked a pair of points for fouls.

Cangelosi opens with win

Cristian Cangelosi (11-0, 5 KOs) scored a majority decision win against Samuel Figueroa (13-3, 6 KOs) in their eight-round junior middleweight matchup to kickoff the action. The Brooklyn-based Italian Cangelosi was awarded scores of 78-74, 77-75, 76-76 in their entertaining matchup.
