Collision On The Coast: Ryan Garner's March 1 Undercard Taking Shape
On March 1st, Ryan Garner (16-0, 8 KOs) will box unbeaten Spaniard Salvador Jimenez (14-0-1, 6 KOs) for the vacant European super featherweight title. The fight will take place at the Bournemouth International Centre.

Garner burst on to the scene as an 18-year-old prodigy. As a teenager, he gave the country’s best featherweights all they could handle in sparring and looked like a surefire future champion as he raced through the early stages of his career.

Garner lost his way in his early twenties but although his star dimmed, he remained unbeaten throughout his trials and tribulations. He laboured on a building site when the penny finally dropped, realising he was allowing his talents to go to waste.

Since rededicating himself to the sport, Garner, 27, has been in outstanding form and has begun to remind people just why they were so excited about him. Last year he overcame a terrible cut to beat former British champion, Liam Dillon, in an excellent fight and then, in July, produced a quality performance to outpoint the world ranked Archie Sharp.

In a show of support, Queensberry have decided to take their show on the road to the south coast and have given Garner the opportunity to headline for the first time. Garner has spent most of his career fighting n London but the Bournemouth International Centre is just 30 miles from his Southampton home.

Garner will be supported by a strong undercard.

Former interim WBO heavyweight champion Joe Joyce (16-3, 15 KOs), will return from the decision defeat he suffered to Dereck Chisora last July as he attempts to launch a final assault on the heavyweight division. The 39-year-old, nicknamed the 'Juggernaut' will box against a selected opponent ‘Juggernaut’ will box against a selected opponent over eight rounds.

A fighter at the opposite end of his career in Royston Barney-Smith (13-0, 7 KOs) will make his latest appearance. The 21-year-old super featherweight has the talent to be one of Britain’s breakout stars in 2025.

The two fighters Garner beat last year in Liam Dillon (14-2-1, 3 KOs) and Archie Sharp (25-1, 9 KOs), will meet in a genuine crossroads fight at 130lbs whilst newly-minted British light heavyweight champion Lewis Edmondson (10-0, 3 KOs) will look to add the Commonwealth title to his trophy cabinet against British-based unbeaten Nigerian opponent Oluwatosin Kejawa (11-0, 5 KOs) over 12 rounds.

Outstanding Cuban super featherweight Jadier Herrera (16-0, 14 KOs) will also appear, as will the exciting and aggressive Olympian Luke McCormack (2-0, 2 KOs). McCormack was beaten by Andy Cruz at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Games.
