CINDY NGAMBA will not be making her professional debut at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday due to an issue with her pre-fight medical examination.
Ngamba made history by becoming the first ever member of the Olympic Refugee Team to win a medal when she claimed bronze at Paris 2024.
The 26-year-old has since turned professional and was set to make her debut as part of the undercard at the Royal Albert Hall, where Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price meet at the top of the bill.
Ngamba was scheduled to take on Kirstie Bavington in an eight-round non-title bout but her promoters Boxxer have now confirmed that the fight has been pulled after an unsuccessful medical which will now require ‘further tests’.
A statement read: “Cindy Ngamba will not be making her professional debut on Friday night after a pre-fight medical examination revealed an issue requiring further investigation.
“The health and safety of fighters remains the highest priority and Cindy will undergo further tests in the coming days.”
The news comes as a surprise after Ngamba attended Wednesday’s final press conference and spoke well ahead of the proposed clash with 9-5-2 European welterweight champion Bavington.
“I’m looking forward to my debut. I know what I’m capable of, even before the Olympics my goal was to turn pro… I’m not saying the pro scene is going to be easy, obviously it will be challenging but I’ve proven it in the amateurs and I’ll prove it in the pros too.”
