Chris Eubank Sr. Praises 'Legendary' Performance By Son
Chris Eubank Snr praised Chris Jr’s “legendary” performance after witnessing his son go through hell to earn a bruising twelve round decision over Conor Benn in an outstanding middleweight grudge match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Almost 35 years since he and Nigel Benn began British boxing’s longest running family feud, Eubank Sr made an unexpected and dramatic entrance to the latest instalment of the Eubank-Benn saga.

The former two-weight world champion has campaigned long and hard against the idea of the rivalry being rekindled ever since the fight was first mooted almost three years ago.

Whist Benn and his own father presented a united front throughout the build-up to Ring Magazine’s first ever boxing card, Eubank Sr’s apparent disapproval of the event and resultant absence from his son’s life was a major but troubling storyline of a tense fight week.

There hadn’t been the slightest hint of Eubank Sr’s stance softening but when fight day arrived and his son needed him the most, he decided to put his personal beliefs to one side and stood proudly alongside Chris Jr.

From the moment they arrived together at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a chauffeur driven car to the moment Eubank Jr imitated his father’s famous leap over the top rope into the ring, Sr was a constant companion to his son on the biggest night of his life.

Eubank Sr warmly greeted both Benn and his old rival, Nigel, before the opening bell and then took his seat on the very front row to watch his son uphold both the family name and the ‘Warrior’s Code’ which Eubank Sr has lived his life by.

“He couldn’t move around the ring and so he had to stand toe-to-toe. That is legendary behavior in the ring. Legendary,” Eubank Sr said in the ring after the fight.

“As I said Conor Benn is an extraordinary fighter. He’s gone pear-shaped somewhere but an extraordinary fighter and you saw that here tonight. He wanted to tear and I thought he would blow out in maybe four or five rounds but he’s going strong right the way through the fight.”

“I am so proud of him. That's my son. That's right. That’s why I'm here. I was always going to be here.”
