Chris Eubank Jr. hires Terence Crawford's trainer again, heads to Dubai for training camp
LONDON — Chris Eubank Jr. and Brian "BoMac" McIntyre will head to Dubai for training camp ahead of the November 15 rematch with Conor Benn.

Eubank (35-3, 25 KOs) beat his British rival via unanimous decision at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 26 in the headline fight of The Ring’s Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

The pair have agreed to proceed with the contracted rematch and will meet for the second time at the home of Spurs.

Eubank, 36, has switched up his training team for his second encounter with Benn even though Jonathon Banks helped steer him to victory in the initial fight. But for this one and Banks is out and McIntyre is in, Eubank confirmed.

The pair have a successful past, working together once when Eubank had his revenge against Liam Smith. In January 2023, Eubank lost for the first and only time inside the distance when Smith stopped him in the fourth round at Manchester Arena.

Eight months later, however, with McIntyre in his corner, Eubank turned the tables by seeing off Smith in the 10th round at the same venue.

Eubank said: “I am 1-0 when it comes to rematches after what happened with Liam Smith. Conor has never been in an immediate rematch before so my experience in that sense is superior to his.

“That was another reason why we have BoMac here for this camp because he helped me win that rematch with Liam Smith and I believe he will help me win my rematch with Conor Benn, too.

“Our camp will be in Dubai. It has started already, I’m never not out of the gym. Camp has started and we will go strong from now up until the day of the fight.”

As well as the victory over Smith, Eubank’s alliance with McIntyre, most famous for his work with three-weight undisputed champion Terence Crawford, was equally memorable for what happened the day after the fight when he tried to fly home from Manchester airport.

It was there that officials found a Smith and Wesson firearm, as well as seven rounds of ammunition, in a zip compartment of his luggage leading to his arrest. He was remanded in custody and charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

He was jailed for 20 months, but the sentence was suspended for two years after Judge Nicholas Dean KC said "exceptional circumstances" of the case had convinced not to hand down the usual five-year jail term. McIntyre had a licence to carry the weapon in the United States but said he had forgotten he even had it in his luggage at the time.

Just days after Crawford beat Canelo Alvarez in Las Vegas, McIntyre returned to England for the first time to sit at the top table of Wednesday’s press conference to formally announce the rematch between Eubank and Benn.

After training camp in Dubai, he will return to England for the fight despite his conviction.

Eubank said: “As far as I’m aware we cleared everything up and that whole situation was settled amicably with the authorities and there is no further issues.”
