Carlos Adames Shreds Erickson Lubin Ahead Of Hamzah Sheeraz Showdown: “He’s A Bum”
There’s nothing wrong with a little confidence but Carlos Adames believes that Erickson Lubin took it overboard.

For several months, Lubin made it known that he would love to fight The Ring’s No. 3 ranked middleweight and current WBC champion, despite campaigning one weight class below. Some competition and self-belief isn’t something that Adames (24-1, 18 KOs) has a problem with. The reigning champion is under the assumption that Lubin was using his name for clout and never intended on facing him. His spurious callouts, coupled with what Adames considers a clearly inferior skill set, led to him ripping the American junior middleweight contender.

“Erickson Lubin, many times said that he can beat me,” Adames told Broadway Joel. “He’s a bum, he knows he can’t beat me.”

Adames, 30, can’t get too wrapped up in a back-and-forth war of words with Lubin. In just over a month, the Dominican native will attempt to defend his title against Hamzah Sheeraz in Saudi Arabia.

The 25-year-old and Ring’s No. 2 ranked middleweight might be the betting favorite but Adames has a difficult time seeing where he holds the edge.

Since being elevated to full champion, Adames has wanted nothing more than to unify the division. Ultimately, he’s hopeful that his dreams will still come to fruition as long as there aren’t any hiccups come the 22nd.

In terms of his issues with Lubin, there’s no end in sight. Although he once flirted with the idea of moving up in weight, the 29-year-old Lubin was recently ordered to face Ardreal Holmes in an IBF eliminator.

If, however, Lubin (26-2, 18 KOs) opted to pass on Holmes and fight Adames for his world title, the results would be catastrophic. Simply put, Adames is of the belief that a showdown between them would be incredibly one-sided.

“He knows he’s not going to beat me.”
