Lennox Lewis didn't think much of the scoring in Terence Crawford's unanimous decision victory over Canelo Alvarez on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Judge Steve Weisfeld scored it 116-112 (eight rounds to four) but colleagues Tim Cheatham and Max DeLuca had 115-113 (seven rounds to five).

Five rounds for Alvarez? Nonsense, Lewis believes.

“I’d say he won about three rounds in that fight,” Lewis told Boxing King Media on its YouTube channel.

Lewis paid a pretty penny for ringside seats at Allegiant Stadium but said it was worth it, as he got an up-close look. The former heavyweight champ wasn’t sure beforehand who would win, but he noticed a pattern as the rounds went by.

Alvarez did his best to apply pressure and loaded up on nearly all of his shots. Crawford boxed, moved, countered and stood his ground against Alvarez in the middle of the ring when needed, all of which frustrated the Mexican star.

Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) essentially dominated his man, Lewis believes. And the new super middleweight champ deserves all the credit in the world.

“Terence Crawford was too quick, too elusive,” Lewis said. “He was too good.”
