Canelo excited to work with Dana White: 'It's going to be a good time'
Canelo Alvarez is good for business, whoever he chooses to do it with.

In recent years, boxing’s biggest breadwinner has worked with Oscar De La Hoya, Eddie Hearn and Al Haymon around his tentpole events.

Now, Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) has joined forces with Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh Season, striking a four-fight deal that kicks off against William Scull (23-0, 9 KOs) on May 4 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on DAZN PPV (May 3 in North America) for the undisputed super middleweight title. The event is promoted by Frank Warren.

Another pivotal promoter Alvarez could soon be working closely with is Dana White, TKO Boxing executive and UFC President and CEO. TKO Boxing launched in March in partnership with Alalshikh and Sela, and the upstart company is expected to begin staging events this year.

“I have this deal with Turki Alalshikh, and we are going to work with them,” Alvarez told The Ring in an interview. “I am excited to do it. I like Dana White. I like [WWE President and TKO Board Member] Nick Khan and TKO. For me, it's something new. I am really excited to do it.

“I don't know [how White can improve boxing]. He's very focused on working and being very good at what he does with UFC. I think it's going to be a good time with him.”

White said he respected Alvarez as a fighter and person in an interview last year as he went head-to-head against Alvarez’s fight versus Edgar Berlanga by hosting UFC Noche at The Sphere in Las Vegas on Mexican Independence Day Weekend.

The minus-4000 betting favorite Alvarez is expected to cruise past Scull to set up a September showdown against Terence Crawford. Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas has been one of the previously discussed venues.

When Alvarez was asked if Dmitry Bivol and David Benavidez would follow Crawford as his opponents for 2026, the Mexican superstar remained coy.

“I am 100 percent focused on this fight,” he said. “I don't like to talk about other fights. I've been in this position my whole career. [People] always want to talk about other fights, but I am focused on this fight, and then we'll see. I am open to anything.”

For now, Alvarez is enjoying fighting outside of North America for the first time in his 20-year career.

“The [experience] has been good,” said Alvarez. “I really like it. I like the process. I got here three weeks before the fight because the time and the weather is different. I feel great. I am about to complete one of my dreams. I am very happy to be here in Riyadh and I am very grateful to everybody. I hope they enjoy watching this fight.”
