Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and
Terence Crawford will fight in Las Vegas on Sept. 12, The Ring can confirm.
No sooner had Ring Magazine super-middleweight champion Canelo successfully won his IBF belt back from William Scull to
become undisputed for a second time, was his next opponent in front of him.
Crawford, The Ring’s No.1-rated super-welterweight, climbed into the ring at the ANB Arena for a face-off with Canelo as the pair kicked off the promotion for their mega fight at the Allegiant Stadium.
The showdown between the two leading lights of the generation will also be the first boxing match to ever take place at the new stadium, which opened in 2020 and plays host to Las Vegas Raiders' NFL games.
The pair smiled at each other as they stood face-to-face for the first time. Canelo said afterwards: “I feel great, Crawford is one of the best out there, I love to share the ring with this kind of fighter, It’s my pleasure.
“Everybody is asking for the fight and His Excellency Turki Al-Alshikh wants it, so let’s do it.”
When asked for his thoughts, Crawford said: "I'm feeling great, blessed, I'll show the world what greatness looks like in September.
"He [Canelo] did what he had to do to get the job done, for what was in-front of him. I'm the best, that's why everyone will come and watch on September 12."
