Gervonta Davis' Trainer Calvin Ford: Crawford Could Have Stopped Canelo
When it comes to having an impenetrable chin, Canelo Alvarez has one of the best in the history of the sport.

Losing to Terence Crawford was always on the board, but getting stopped in his tracks seemed like a far-fetched idea. However, as Gervonta Davis' head trainer Calvin Ford watched their much-anticipated megafight last month, he believes Crawford consciously chose to win by decision and if he wanted, could have ended things much more violently.

"Crawford could have stopped him, he could've," Ford told Fight Hub TV. "Me being a coach and watching how the fight was going on, he could’ve stopped him."

Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) never appeared hurt at any point on that Las Vegas night at Allegiant Stadium on Sept. 13, but never found a way to solve the complex Rubik's cube in-front of him.

Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs), who moved up two weight divisions to challenge Alvarez for his Ring and undisputed super middleweight titles, danced on the outside before brawling when things got heated at close-range.

Once the final bell rang and his hand was raised in victory, Crawford was extremely complimentary of the future first ballot Hall of Famer. From mentioning his power to overall skills, the Omaha native was profuse in his praise for the Mexican legend.

Ford doesn't believe he was being facetious, but is convinced that Crawford's applause of his most recent opponent was excessively loud out of respect.

"He was being humble," Ford said. "It was a great fight."
