Brian Norman Jr. Plays Down Welterweight Rival Jaron Ennis' Win Over Eimantas Stanionis
Usually, when two of the very best fighters in their division get it on, fireworks are produced. At the very least, the action is back-and-forth and the final outcome is uncertain.

Jaron Ennis vs. Eimantas Stanionis, however, was anything but that.

Last month, the pair officially got it on in New Jersey’s Atlantic City. Boxing is an eclectic sport, one filled with fans who struggle to agree on anything. Prior to Ennis and Stanionis' fight, there was a consensus forming. While Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) was considered the favorite, Stanionis was believed to be both good enough and tough enough to make it a real fight.

Brian Norman Jr. was amongst those who gave Stanionis a real chance. But, it seemed as though Ennis took offense to that and did his best to make an example out of him. It took the Philly star just six rounds to get the job done, beating Stanionis (15-1, 9 KOs) via corner stoppage.

Nearly a month on from the fight, Norman is revisiting his old words. Showing reverence and being kind are the principles Norman grew up on. With that said, he admits that he wasn’t being truthful when it came to Stanionis’ original chances.

“In the past, I was trying to be real respectful but I knew he wasn’t up to par,” said Norman to MillCity Boxing. “I seen a very straightforward fighter.”

Norman rarely gives comments without providing context. If he did, he knows his words would be misconstrued and used against him.

So, with a chance to clarify his statements even further, he broke down the holes in Stanionis' game and how they aided his downfall.

“He went to war a lot,” continued Norman. “He was hitting other guys a lot but for some reason, nobody was getting hurt, nothing was happening, they got all bruised up but nothing happens. You ain’t got no pop in them gloves. He a heavy bag. Just a tough heavy bag.”
