Breyon Gorham batters Yomar Alamo by unanimous decision
Breyon Gorham took his time and picked apart Yomar Alamo on Saturday night, winning a wide unanimous decision over 10 rounds in a step-up bout in Houston, Texas.

The three judges scored in favor of the hometown fighter, 99-91 (twice) and 98-92 at Bayou Music Center to headline OTX-16.

On paper, Yomar Alamo (22-5-1, 13 KOs) represented Gorham's toughest opponent to date. He entered after having losses to Richardson Hitchins (IBF champ) and Liam Paro (former IBF champ).

"He's' been in the ring with a lot of guys at the top," Gorham, who had an abrasion on his right cheek after the first round, said in the right after the fight. "I just showed I'm one of the best guys."

Gorham (21-0, 16 KOs), eager to jump into the top 10 rankings, began to open up by the fifth round, jabbing sparsely as he walked down Alamo as his punches had more impact.

Alamo used an effective shoulder roll to deflect punches and also leaned back, but Graham often failed to step with him to take full advantage.

Gorham caught Alamo with right hands in succession to push him to the ropes in the seventh, but he couldn't follow up as he fell into clinches.

Alamo looked gassed by the eighth and focused on moving and disengaging until a left hook to the body from Gorham pinned him on the ropes.

Gorham wasn't concerned about return fire as Alamo didn't sit down on his punches that lacked sting.

The body work appeared to be the difference as it sapped the fight out of Alamo late.

"I hit him with a lot of big shots," Gorham said. "I seen him hurt. I seen it in his eyes. I had to keep applying the pressure."
