Bomac: Keyshawn Davis Would Stop Gervonta Davis in Later Rounds!
Gervonta Davis Wouldn't Last 12 Rounds With Keyshawn Davis Says Bomac

By Hans Themistode

Keyshawn Davis is either a few hours away from crying tears of joy or tears of happiness.

In the main event slot in New York’s Madison Square Garden, Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) will get his first shot at a world title when he takes on Denys Berinchyk. All eyes are on the Ukrainian but Brian “Bomac” McIntyre, Davis’ current trainer, knows the sort of doors that will open up if his man picks up the win.

A unification with Vasiliy Lomachenko is possible. So is a title defense against William Zepeda. The best option of them all, however, would be a mega showdown with Gervonta Davis.

When it comes to star power, few in the world, not just in the sport of boxing, measure up to the Baltimore native. His pattern of violently ending the nights of his opponents not only earned him millions of dollars but it also has him placed on virtually every pound-for-pound list.

Great might be an underwhelming way to describe the current WBA lightweight champ. Exceptional may not be a good enough superlative either. Still, no matter how many flattering words are used to compliment him, Bomac doesn’t believe he’s the best fighter at 135 pounds. In fact, if the two Davis’ lined up against one another, Bomac is convinced that he could prove his point.

“I think Keyshawn would stop him in the later rounds because of Gervonta’s style of fighting,” explained Bomac during an interview with The Ring. “It can only carry him so far until you run into the right person.”

Before Keyshawn can attempt to get his hands on him, Lamont Roach will beat him to the punch. Both he and Gervonta are officially scheduled to share the ring on March 1st, in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in a pay-per-view main event.

Roach’s skills are innocuous according to Bomac. And, at some point, he expects Gervonta to get rid of him before the final bell rings.

Being aggressive and flippant in terms of what’s coming back at him has gotten him incredibly far in the sport. But from Bomac’s point of view, Gervonta’s level of opposition is normally one-trick ponies. Even Gervonta himself isn’t a multi-faceted fighter in Bomac’s opinion. If he were to bring that same mundane style to the table against his fighter, Gervonta would quickly notice that he doesn’t have enough tricks up his sleeve to get himself out of trouble.

“He just got that one style that he doesn’t change. Keyshawn got a whole toolbox.”
