Bill Haney Warns Richardson Hitchins About Kambosos Jr: “You Saw What He Did To Teofimo Lopez”
Bill Haney isn’t the biggest fan of Richardson Hitchins, but he does want to guide him off what he perceives to be the wrong path.

There’s been no love, and certainly no respect shown, between Hitchins and the Haneys. Whenever a microphone is present, they usually take turns lambasting each other. Hitchins loathes Devin Haney, Bill’s son. The former undisputed and two-division champ receives the sort of praise that Hitchins wants for himself. From the Haneys' side of things, Hitchins is a wannabe.

For now though, none of that matters. Later on tonight, Hitchins will place all of his focus on George Kambosos. During the entirety of the build-up to their fight, Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) has downplayed the former unified champ's abilities.

He’s too small. He’s trash. Not good enough.

Those are some of the phrases Hitchins has used to describe Kambosos. From the outside looking in, Bill isn’t sure if Hitchins is taking the Australian seriously enough. And while their showdown will take place in Hitchins’ hometown of New York, Kambosos has already proven that he loves coming to an opposing fighter's house and stomping all over the carpet.

“This is no place where you want to play with Kambosos,” Bill Haney told FightHype.com. “You saw what he did to Teofimo Lopez.”

Back in 2021, Lopez was the hottest name around. But, thanks to Kambosos, he was knocked off his high horse.

That win, however, has been brought up time and time again. Hitchins has given Kambosos his flowers for going out there and getting the job done but what has the Aussie done since then? With a record of just 2-3, with two of those losses coming against Haney, not so much, according to Hitchins.

Still, there’s a bigger movement at play. Hitchins isn’t exactly on the Haneys radar but they are taking notice of him. They have no interest in his 140-pound title and would rather he move up to make their showdown more realistic.

Considering his frame and how difficult it’s been to make the 140-pound limit, a move up is something Hitchins would be more than willing to flirt with. However, before he makes that commitment, Bill believes that he needs to be locked in on Kambosos.

“Hitchins, stay focused.”
