ORLANDO, Florida —
Beatriz Ferreira notched another defense of her IBF lightweight title to her name, turning in a dominant performance to defeat
Maria Ines Ferreyra by unanimous decision on Saturday on Most Valuable Prospects 13 on DAZN at the Caribe Royale Orlando.
Ferreira's victory marked the second defense of her title, becoming the first woman to defeat Ferreyra. The Brazilian Olympic silver (2020) and bronze (2024) medalist is The Ring's No. 3 ranked women's lightweight.
Ferreira outlanded Ferreyra 160 to 97, per CompuBox. Judges Tina Griffin and Efrain LeBron both scored the contest 99-91, and Mike Ross had it 98-92.
Argentina's Ferreyra made her U.S. debut in the loss, having knocked out four of her last six opponents prior to this decision defeat.
Ferreira's speed and ability to manage distance before countering Ferreyra carried the day. After a close first round, the champion (7-0, 2 KOs) was able to gain the edge and seize control of the fight as it progressed.
Ferreyra (11-1-1, 6 KOs) found some success in the middle rounds, particularly with her overhand right. Still, it wasn't enough to overcome Ferreira's volume, defense and ability to counterpunch during their exchanges.
After another victory, Ferreira called for a unification against WBA lightweight champion Stephanie Han (10-0, 3 KOs) and she faced off in the ring with the Texan post-fight.
