Driver in fatal crash involving Anthony Joshua charged with four offences
The driver of the car involved in the crash involving Anthony Joshua, which killed his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, has been charged with four offences including causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a licence.

The two-time world heavyweight champion Joshua was a passenger in the Lexus SUV which collided with a stationary truck on the notoriously dangerous Lagos-Ibidan expressway in Ogun State, Nigeria on December 29.

Joshua, who was seated behind the driver, walked away with minor injuries but Ghami and Ayodele were killed in the crash. Like Joshua, the driver survived.

Now the Ogun State Police Command have confirmed the identity of the driver and charged him with a quartet of offences.

Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, 46, was charged with dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention - causing bodily harm and damage to property and also driving without a valid national driver’s licence. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed Kayode was charged at the Sagamu Magistrates Court early on Friday with the case adjourned until January 20.

It has been confirmed that the defendant was granted bail for the sum of 5m Nigerian Naira, which equates to $3,479 (£2,582). He was remanded pending those bail conditions being met.

Joshua was taken to hospital following the crash, which took place around 11am local time on Monday, December 29 but he was discharged on Wednesday to continue his recovery at home.

The 36-year-old, whose parents are Nigerian, had been holidaying with Sina and Ayodele, both members of his strength and conditioning team and close personal friends, in the wake of the fighter's December 19 victory over Jake Paul.

It has been reported that Joshua and his team were on their way to Sagamu, a town in Ogun state, where they had planned to celebrate the new year with relatives.
