Ammo Williams Shooting To Be Face of Middleweight Division
Austin “Ammo” Williams will be showcased as a headliner for the first time of his professional career on Saturday when he faces Patrice Volny at the Caribe Royale in Orlando.

The matchup marks Williams' second outing since experiencing the first loss of his six-year professional career to the hands of Hamzah Sheeraz via stoppage in June. Williams (17-1, 12 KOs) returned to the ring in November for an eight-round bout, securing a fifth-round TKO victory over Gian Garrido.

“My goal is to reawaken the middleweight division,” Williams told The Ring in an interview. “I believe it's the greatest division in boxing. You have the speed of the smaller guys and the power of the heavyweights. You have to be on point in the middleweight division, and I'm going to be the standout guy and I will show that on March 15.

Tasked with getting the 28-year-old southpaw back on track is longtime coach Kevin Cunnigham.

“The breakthrough is now,” said Williams. “With what I have achieved in the gym, with the alignment I have achieved in life, and the opportunities that Matchroom has given me to begin the Ammo show, this is the time. It's not a small show and I’m being given an opportunity to truly blow up. Then the belts and money will follow. It begins March 15.”

Volny (19-1, 13 KOs), a 35-year-old career-long Canadian contender, has the appreciation and approval of Williams.

“People are not giving the respect he deserves,” said Williams. “He's not a big name in the global scene. But I've seen him spar years ago in Montreal at Marc Ramsay's gym and he did things that I admired. It was outstanding. I'm glad I saw that because it took my training for this fight to another level. Even though his wins are in Canada, he's still a great fighter. He's seasoned, slick, and very comfortable in the ring. He's tough and knows how to take and return shots. I know that he's coming to win. He has an outstanding opportunity and I am sure he’s going to bring the best version of himself. He's someone that I respect. But with me, with my development and experience, I’m going to blow him out of the water.”
