After Lackluster Return Win Over Jennifer Miranda, Alycia Baumgardner Targets Katie Taylor
At this point, Alycia Baumgardner needs a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Motivation has never been an issue, but when you’ve won as many fights and aggregated as many titles as she has, it becomes difficult getting up for everybody.

With that said, she has an opponent who can fill that void.

"I want Katie Taylor," Baumgardner said on her X account hours after pitching a returning 10-round decision win of her own on the Taylor-Serrano undercard.

For a number of years now, Baumgardner has wanted to get her hands on the undisputed super lightweight champ. That feeling has only magnified following Taylor’s recent win.

This past Friday night, in the headliner spot in New York’s Madison Square Garden, Taylor officially closed the chapter on her rivalry with Amanda Serrano, going 3-0. Now she's proved that she’s the better fighter, Taylor could be on the lookout for a new opponent.

In steps Baumgardner.

On the very same card, the 31-year-old ended a near one-year layoff by taking on Jennifer Miranda. Although Baumgardner was widely expected to take care of busy and look good doing it, the latter wasn’t applicable.

Miranda did her best to spoil the undisputed champion's party. And, by and large, she nearly did. But, thanks to some key adjustments pointed out by new head trainer Derrick James, she managed to pull out the victory.

Now, with a handful of signature victories under her belt, Baumgardner wants to take on arguably the most recognizable name in women’s boxing.

Ultimately, though, she doesn't want to be handcuffed to just Taylor. If someone else is willing to step up to the plate and face her, she’s more than willing to entertain it.

“I have options,” said Taylor during the post-fight presser. “I’m blessed with so many options on the table. I’m gonna heal up and get back to the drawing board soon.”
