Abel Mendoza has aligned with Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions.
Mendoza (42-0, 31 KOs) has racked up an impressive record since turning pro in 2016, albeit against unheralded opposition. Now it's time for the 29-year-old Texan to sink or swim against what certainly should be much stiffer competition moving forward.
"I’m proud to announce that I signed a multi-fight deal with the best promotional company in the world, TGB Promotions with PBC," Mendoza said on social media. "I wanna thank my management team, Luis DeCubas Jr., Anthony McDonald, Al Haymon, and my promoter, Tom Brown. Thank you all for believing in me.
"I will finally have the opportunity to face some of the best fighters in the world. To everyone that's been supporting this journey of mine, let's prove the world wrong."
Mendoza has mostly built his record in Colombia and Mexico. He has 12 wins across the Texas and New Mexico boxing circuits as well. Mendoza has also competed in Team Combat League, but has fought only once this year, a fourth-round stoppage win in July in Medellin.
It remains to be seen when Mendoza will make his PBC debut, but its December 6 show in San Antonio, headlined by
Isaac Cruz vs. Lamont Roach, should be a good slot.
