Tiara Brown retained her WBC featherweight title by dominating the second half of Saturday night's defense against Emma Gongora in Houston, Texas.
The judges scored for Brown unanimously, 100-90 and 98-92 (twice).
The duo set a hectic pace from the opening bell at Bayou Music Center, with Brown creating separation after the fifth as she overwhelmed France's Gongora with greater accuracy and volume.
"She did outwork me the first round," Brown said in the right after the fight. "[My corner] told me I need to get active. I know what that means. I'm not doing enough."
Brown (20-0, 11 KOs) traded on the inside with Gongora early and fought masterfully from distance behind her jab, using pot shots as blood from her nose in the sixth.
By the 10th, Brown had Gongora (10-4-1, 1 KO) in retreat as she stunned her twice with right hands in her first title defense.
"I noticed when I hit her with a left hook to the body she backed up," Brown said. "I did want to close the show and get a stoppage for the fans."
Brown won her belt in March by upsetting the then-unbeaten Skye Nicholson in Australia.
Saturday's bout was the co-main event for OTX-16, headlined by junior welterweights Breyon Gorham and Yomar Alamo.
